Reverend John Parille is our Senior Pastor and overseas the Bethel United Methodist Church and our sister church, the Long Ridge United Methodist Church. Pastor John comes to us with years of business, sales and marketing experience. This experience coupled with his depth of spirituality, passion for bringing Christ to the world and his love for people, offers a major contribution to our our ministry team here at BUMC. Pastor John began his pastoral ministry by serving as an Associate Pastor at New Life UMC in New Fairfield CT in 2010. Since that time, Pastor John has served at the Gaylordsville UMC and has been the Senior Pastor at the Bethel UMC since 2016.

In addition to handling the normal pastoral duties of preaching, teaching and visitation— Pastor John helps our church by putting a face to our church out in the community. He develops strategies to help fulfill the segment of our mission to bring make Jesus known beyond our four walls.

This includes reaching local families who are unchurched, developing evangelism teams, working closely with our leaders and members  to provide instruction on evangelism, follow-up of visitors and developing marketing strategies to make our ministry known in the Greater Bethel area.

Pastor John is married to his wife Maria and they have four daughters and is the proud grandfather of Jack.

Pastor Ted Hartlett

After being raised a Christian, Ted took a 10-year journey into the wilderness to pursue a career as a rock and roll musician. Family friends lovingly prayed for him, and he surrendered his life to Jesus in 1984. “Jesus has taken me as I am and given me a heart that follows hard after Him,” said Ted. “He has helped me to see how utterly dependent I am on Him and how He is my source of life.”

Ted is a gifted musician, singer and songwriter. He plays saxophone, guitar and keyboards, and has served as a worship leader here and at several local churches. At Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel, CT, he has served as a men's ministry leader, prayer servant, Church In Action leader and small group leader. Outside of church, Ted is a Board member of Vina Studios in Guatemala and Forest Haven in New Hampshire.

Ted and his wife Ibel, who have five grown children, have enjoyed participating in short-term mission trips in Latin America. Ted is the Business Development lead and Executive Producer at HB Live in North Haven. In addition to his passion for music, Ted enjoys photography, watching sports, sightseeing, history, spending time with family and investing in the next generation. He is excited about this call to Bethel United Methodist Church and “a God-sized opportunity to join the Lord and His people in what He is doing.”
